Backcountry Cocktails

Three cocktails you need to try whilst skiing in the backcountry.

Pre-departure

  • Mix one part gin, campari and sweet vermouth into a plastic bottle,

  • Dehydrate orange slices.

On the mountain

  • Fill your mug with the best ice you can find, snow is not good enough. Pour pre-mixed liquor into ice filled mug and garnish with dehydrated orange.

Pre-departure

  • Pack dried pineapple, coconut milk powder, pineapple or tropical powdered cordial,

  • Decant white rum into plastic bottle.

On the mountain

  • Dissolve one teaspoon per serve of powdered pineapple cordial and coconut milk powder in 50ml per serve of water in a nalgene bottle. It may help if the water is warm,

  • Add two shots per person of white rum,

  • Add small amounts of snow until you get a liquid slurry,

  • Scatter a few pieces of dried pineapple in the bottle,

  • Shake,

  • Share straight from the nalgene unless social distancing rules apply.

Pre-departure

  • Mix two parts tequila with one part triple sec into a plastic bottle,

  • Dehydrate lime,

  • Pack powdered lime cordial (Lime tang) and salt.

On the mountain

  • Dissolve one teaspoon per serve of powdered lime cordial in 30ml per serve of water in a nalgene bottle,

  • Add two shots per person of pre-mix,

  • Add small amounts of snow until you get a liquid slurry,

  • Shake,

  • Pour over a snowy mug with salt rim and garnish with dehydrated lime.
